About Planta Analytica, Inc.
Planta Analytica is a family-owned laboratory CRO in New Milford, Connecticut, focused on small-molecule isolation, impurity characterization, and high-purity reference standards for naturally derived agrochemicals. Founded in the early 2000s by Dr. Jan Glinski after a career in pharmaceutical natural-products discovery, the company extended that work into agrochemicals in 2006. Vitold Glinski has led the business since 2020. We are a specialist chemistry lab, not a field-trial or GLP residue network. Clients come to us when the bottleneck is the molecule: a component that will not purify, an impurity that must be identified near or below 0.1%, a reference standard that does not exist in catalogs, or an HPLC method that fails on a real technical concentrate. Naturally derived crop-protection products—avermectins, neem limonoids such as azadirachtins, spinosads and related spinosyns and spinetorams, pyrethrins, and similar fermentation or botanical actives—are families of related structures plus process impurities and fate products. Registration and quality control require knowing what is in the technical material, controlling impurities at defined thresholds, and running methods that hold up batch after batch. That is laboratory product chemistry. Field efficacy work cannot substitute for it. Services cover isolation from milligrams for structure work through kilogram-scale purified actives or standards. We isolate small molecules in the roughly 100–1,200 Dalton range and peptides up to about 3,000 Daltons, using preparative HPLC, UPLC, flash chromatography, and centrifugal partition chromatography as the problem requires. Impurity isolation and profiling includes methods to decide which peaks exceed reporting or identification limits, isolation of those components, and structural elucidation supported by HPLC-UV, ELSD, LC-MS, NMR, residual solvents, and related tests. Where isolation from the technical material is impractical, we use semi-synthetic or synthetic routes to the impurity or fate product. We also develop analytical methods for assay, related-substance profiles, and batch comparison, and we manufacture one of the larger in-stock libraries of rare agrochemical standards—individual avermectin analogues and degradants, azadirachtin A/B/D/H/I and related neem limonoids, spinosyns and spinetorams, and the primary pyrethrins plus selected fate products. Custom isolation fills gaps when a marker is not catalogued. Planta Analytica is not a GMP or GLP field-residue laboratory. We complement field CROs and regulatory consultants by supplying product-chemistry data, primary standards, and transferable methods for biologicals and botanical or fermentation-derived crop-protection products. Client intellectual property stays with the client. Typical requests: isolate this peak; identify everything above 0.1%; supply a named standard and method; produce a specified impurity at gram scale; determine whether two production batches are the same product.
